Whether you're stepping onto the New Music Wednesdays stage for the first time or you’re a regular in the rotation, preparation can make the difference between a good set and a standout moment. Here’s a quick readiness checklist to make sure you’re fully set to shine- on stage and on camera.
1. Know Your Set — Inside and Out
Your time on stage is limited. Rehearse transitions, ad-libs, and how you’ll engage the crowd between songs. Practice like the cameras are rolling… because they will be.
2. Dress for the Spotlight
Think of your look as part of your rollout. Choose an outfit that reflects your brand and stands out on camera. NMW is filmed and live-streamed, so your style will live beyond the night.
3. Bring Clean Audio (and a DJ If Possible)
If you’re performing to a track, make sure it’s a performance version (no lead vocals). Label your USB or email properly with your artist name and song order. If you have a DJ, coordinate cues and timing in advance.
4. Arrive Early & Be Present
Soundcheck, media interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage happen before doors open. Arriving early gives you face time with the team, press, and other artists — this is part of the opportunity.
5. Engage with the Media & Audience
Interviews and press clips are built into the NMW experience. Treat every interaction like promo — give thoughtful answers, tag the platform after, and leverage the content to grow your reach.
6. Network Like Your Career Depends On It (Because It Does)
Other artists, producers, DJs, tastemakers, and media all move through the room. A quick conversation today could lead to a feature or a booking tomorrow. Bring business cards or digital contact info.
Bottom line: NMW isn’t just a performance — it’s a platform. Preparation turns your set into a moment people remember.
